Our imaginings sometimes help to make our world bearable. I often feel that the tragedies and injustices around us can become so painful to watch that sometimes we just need to escape, even for a moment. I am so grateful that I can turn to the process of creating to find that solace.
For this image, I used a macro lens for the artichoke "flowers", a strawberry, and the island is in fact a choko. Backdrop is the Sydney city skyline taken from Taronga zoo. The model is my gorgeous daughter, Portia.
